Collaborations of the Cluj-Napoca Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir

The collaborations with numerous brilliant guest artists came to confirm the value of the Orchestra and contributed to its qualitative and artistic development. Among these – the conductors Sir John Pritchard, Kiril Kondrashin, André Jolivet, Carlo Zecchi, Witold Lutoslawsky, Michi Inoue, Maurice Handford, Stanislaw Wyslocky, János Ferencsik, Leopold Hager, Kurt Masur, Valeri Gergiev, Alexandr Dmitriev – the soloists Sviatoslav Richter, José Carreras, Ruggiero Ricci, Lola Bobescu, Roberto Alagna, Angela Gheorghiu, Lazar Berman, Radu Lupu, Valentin Gheorghiu, Friedrich Gulda, Annie Fischer, Aldo Ciccolini, Dmitri Başkirov, Jean Pierre Rampal, Silvia Marcovici, Philippe Entremont, Bruno Leonardo Gelber, Patrik Gallois etc.

The vocal-symphonic concerts performed by the Cluj Choir, in collaboration with the excellent Cluj Philharmonic Orchestra, are interpreted at a level equal to that heard in the greatest musical centers of the world. The Choir collaborated with remarkable Romanian and foreign conductors, such as: Gary Bertini, János Ferencsik, Pinchas Steinberg, Shlomo Mintz, Michi Inoue, Leopold Hager, Maurice Handford, Emil Simon, Edward Tschiwjel, Cristian Mandeal, Lászlo Heltai, Donato Renzetti, Lü Jia, Nicholas McGegan, David Shallon, Klaus Peter Flor, as well as with several famous orchestras such as: Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Zürich Tonhalle Orchestra, Luxembourg RTL Orchestra, Philharmonie Lorraine, George Enescu Philharmonic Bucharest, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Nazionale RAI di Torino and Orchestra Internazionale dell’Italia.

The Choir has been invited to participate in the most important festivals in Romania - George Enescu Festival in Bucharest, the Cluj Musical Autumn Festival, Mozart Festival in Cluj-Napoca, Cluj Modern Festival, Iasi Romanian Music Festival. The renown of the ensemble grew with the tours abroad, with concerts held in important music centres such as: Berlin (Berlin Biennial Festival, Luzerne - Requiem for one Millenium), Zürich, Interlaken (Interlaken Festival, edition dedicated to George Enescu), Ravello (Ravello Festival), Torino, Napoli, Luxembourg (Luxembourg Festival – Europe Cultural Centre), Assisi (Assisi Sf. Francisc Cathedral, Eurovision manifestation), Amsterdam (Holland Festival), Geneva, Jerusalem (Liturgica Festival), Athens (Maria Callas Festival), etc.
